Privacy Policy
Last updated 9 July 2026
Plain version: we collect as little as we can, we do not sell your data, and where our products run on hardware you own, your data stays with you. The detail below is the formal version.
1. What this policy covers
This policy explains how we handle personal data when you visit esali.com and our related sites (including valora.esali.com), contact us, or use a service we provide. Some of our products, such as V (Valora), are designed to run on hardware the user owns; where that is the case, the personal content those products hold stays on the user's own systems and is not sent to us. This policy covers the data we, esali, actually process.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- Contact details you provide (name, email, message) when you email us or use a form.
- Account or handle information if you interact with us on a public platform (for example, replies to our posts).
Information collected automatically
- Basic technical data when you load a page: IP address, browser and device type, referring page, and the pages you view. This is standard server and analytics data used to keep the site working and understand traffic.
- Cookies and similar technologies (see section 6).
What we deliberately do not collect
- We do not collect the private contents held inside products that run on your own hardware. Where a product publishes numbers about itself, those are counts only, never contents.
- We do not knowingly collect data from children (see section 10).
3. Why we use it, and our legal basis
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we rely on these legal bases:
- To respond to you when you contact us. Basis: our legitimate interest in answering, or steps to enter a contract.
- To operate and secure the site (serve pages, prevent abuse, fix errors). Basis: legitimate interest.
- To understand and improve our sites through aggregate analytics. Basis: legitimate interest, or your consent where required for cookies.
- To comply with law where we must keep or disclose data. Basis: legal obligation.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:
- Service providers who process data on our behalf (for example hosting and infrastructure), under contracts that require them to protect it.
- Authorities, where the law requires it.
5. Where your data is held, and transfers
We aim to keep and process data within the EU/EEA. Where a provider processes data outside the EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
6. Cookies
We use only the cookies needed to run the site and, where applicable, to measure aggregate traffic. Where consent is required, we ask for it. You can control or clear cookies in your browser at any time; blocking them may affect how the site works.
7. How long we keep it
We keep personal data only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, or as the law requires, then we delete or anonymise it. Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to handle your request and any follow-up.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; have it corrected; have it deleted; restrict or object to how we use it; and receive it in a portable form. To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to the Swedish data protection authority, the Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY), at imy.se.
9. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data. No system is perfectly secure, but we design for least data collected and least access needed.
10. Children
Our sites and services are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our practices or the law change. We will post the new version here with a new date. Material changes will be made clear.
